Creative Director

Mason Interactive, headquartered in NYC, is expanding and opening a second office in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

We are a fast-growing Performance Marketing Agency focusing on two verticals: Higher Education, and emerging direct-to-consumer Fashion, Beauty, and Lifestyle brands. Traditionally, clients hire us to manage SEO, SEM, Display, Social and Email Marketing, while we transparently outsource design, landing page creation, and branding.

As we grow, we are excited to add creative capabilities to our services, from display and social assets to email and landing page design. We are looking for a Creative Director to join our team and build the creative department from the ground up. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior creative professional with hands-on expertise in digital / interactive design, and a passion to build out an entire department under their guidance and oversight. We plan to have a three-person creative team by the end of 2021, and a five-person team by the end of 2022.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all creative output for a wide variety of brands and clients
  • Manage creative projects from start to finish; set deliverables and milestones, manage deadlines and budgets, deliver assets and present concepts to clients
  • Shape brand standards and create procedures to ensure all client deliverables are brand appropriate
  • Collaborate with Account Management teams to deliver solutions for our existing clients
  • Partner with other department leads to share ideas, communicate service offerings, and to identify new solutions
  • Support the New Business team in selling creative services to new prospects and existing clients
  • Work with the Marketing Director on a creative strategy as part of the agency’s brand
  • Be hands-on in the beginning, while we grow your team around you

Leadership Qualities

  • Build out a team of creative talent
  • Define and scale agency’s creative service offering
  • Develop strong internal processes and procedures for the creative department
  • Supervise the department’s daily workflow, assign project workload, and monitor deadlines and budgets
  • Prepare and present annual departmental plans and forecasts
  • Source and manage external talent for projects when required (photographers, videographers, illustrators, animators)
  • Develop and foster account relationships

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years experience in design / creative industry
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Advertising, or related field is preferred
  • Previous experience in leading and mentoring a team
  • Proven front-end design capabilities
  • Advanced portfolio of relevant design work that demonstrates your creative vision
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both internally and to clients
  • A strong network of external creative partners and freelancers
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Agency experience is a plus
  • Experience with Shopify, Klaviyo, Unbounce, or Hubspot is a plus
