1880% increase in revenue MoM
Family owned Lawn, Garden and Pet Superstore, Zamzows, partnered with Mason Interactive to update their website, improve their eCommerce capabilities, and revamp their brand identity. With the help of Mason Interactive, Zamzows launched a brand new Shopify store and lawncare program page and saw an 1880% increase in revenue MoM from the launch of the program page. With proper care and attention their garden is now flourishing.
Zamzows was founded in 1933 by August and Carmelita Zamzows, offering hand-mixed feed during the Great Depression. Today, Zamzows has expanded to 13 brick and mortar locations. The store now carries hundreds of products, expanding their catalog from feed to a wide range of pet care products, and adding lawn and garden care. Today, the store remains family owned and operated by the great grandchildren of August and Carmelita.
Their Goal
A better customer experience
Because their existing site was not meeting their goals, Zamzows needed an updated visual identity and eCommerce experience. The goal was to not only sell individual products on the online store, but also enable customers to easily find the nearest store location for order pick-up, and boost their subscription model focused on lawn care.
Mason Interactive was tasked with establishing the Zamzows visual identity and improving the user experience of the new Shopify website. After in-depth market and user research analysis, Mason curated 4-5 personas for the Zamzows target audience. Mason Interactive was then able to develop a messaging strategy that would provide a human-first approach to the copy and content for the new website. During this research period, the Mason team also collected user behavior data on the existing Zamzows website to identify opportunities for improvement and understand user behavior.
Mason Interactive used the data from this analysis to inform a visual identity revamp for Zamzows. To ensure that the brand look and feel remained consistent throughout the new website and across all channels, Mason Interactive strategically designed a new, all-encompassing brand style guide.
With a new visual identity established, the Mason team selected a Shopify theme that adhered to Zamzows’ large catalog and specific business goals, including the ability to choose specific store locations for pick-up, and advanced filtering options.
Next, Mason built a wireframe that ensured the hierarchy of information presented on the website created a seamless user experience from the homepage to checkout and everywhere in between. Then the team used the newly developed visual identity and brand copy to perform the final buildout of the new Shopify website.
Their Success
